156 Wellington Hill

Mattapan, MA; planning | This project reuses the existing masonry church located at the intersection of Wellington Hill Street, Greendale Road, and Route 203. From the start, the neighbors and the neighborhood association supported the initiative, recognizing its potential to revitalize a key piece of the community fabric. A major concern was how to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety at this challenging corner. MDLA and RJOC addressed this by designing a corner plaza within the city’s right of way. The plaza shortens crosswalks, calms traffic and provides a seating area outside the retail storefront.
